Barbour Dress Tartan
One of the things that interests me most when looking into long established brands is how they move with the times while maintaining a strong sense of heritage. I discovered Barbour are launching their new Dress Tartan collection with the help of the well known bloggers featured in the video above. They're a brilliant example of how a brand can retain a strong sense of itself but still evolve for a new generation through collaborations (with companies like Liberty), new ranges like this one and even opening new lines of communication by embracing social media like Facebook and Tumblr. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out and taking a peek at the whole collection when it becomes available.
I'm looking forward to catching the rest of the ladies' videos and voting on Friday.

Denim Mythbusters
Some of my favourite streetwear brands have beautifully cut denim pieces in their arsenal but I'm only just starting to learn about the phenomena of selvedge denim and all of its quirky rituals - this video from The Crosby Press helped bust a couple of the more common ones...
Label Love - Zoe & Morgan
You might have noticed in last week's 'Things I would buy...' post that I enjoy a bit of an All Seeing Eye motif, it was this that caught my eye (which isn't all that great at seeing, ironically) while perusing the internet earlier.
Zoe & Morgan are one of the few brands to pick up "trendy" icons like skulls, anchors, stars and geometric Aztec-style designs and produce them in edgy styles that still have a timeless appeal.
Here are some of my favourites...
I Heart Necklace in Sterling Silver with a Mother of Pearl skull and Heart Skull Necklace in Sterling Silver featuring a tiny heart locket and key clasp.

Slightly more purse-friendly Cat Paw Ring and Sterling Silver and 22ct Gold Plate Rope and Anchor Ring.
From the fine jewellery range - Princess Skull Ring with a 4ct. Green Amethyst and the stunning smokey Quartz Nina Ring.

Bradley Wiggins for Fred Perry
I was lucky enough to be invited along to the Fred Perry store in Glasgow tonight for the launch party for the latest Bradley Wiggins collection but unfortunately can't make it down from Aberdeen in time. As both a Wiggo and a Fred Perry fan I think it's a brilliant collaboration - his Mod appreciation, their sportswear legacy - it's definitely one of the strongest post-Olympic partnerships. None of the garments have gone online just yet so I thought I'd share some sneak peeks the store posted on Instagram earlier. My favourite details so far are the World Championship stripes on the underside of button plackets and on belt loops. Looking forward to popping into the Glasgow store in a couple of weeks to check out the whole collection in person.

Brighton
I inherited an Olympus Trip 35 last year and am slowly but surely getting the hang of it, a beautiful day in Brighton last summer has so far been the most successful scenario. More days like that please!
More shots after the jump.

Pocket fluff
I wish I could say I had come up with this idea myself but I have somewhat shamelessly pinched it from the lovely Adam J. Kurtz. As quite a visually driven person his Week in Scraps posts always catch my eye and I think it's a great way to reflect on the week.
Coffee while I waited for best bud to arrive. Headaches galore. Cashmere samples from a Uni visit to Johnstons of Elgin.

Spring has sprung (almost)
My lovely best friend ventured up to Aberdeen for a much needed visit yesterday and we took a wander up to Old Aberdeen to investigate Cruickshank Botanical Gardens as I needed some photographs as source for one of my Uni projects. Unfortunately it's a bit too early (and still far too cold!) for much to be in bloom but it was nice to find some greenery in the Granite City.

London Fashion Week 2013
Fashion Week seemed to go by in a flash this year! One of my favourite things has been the live streaming of shows and the new Move It feature on Style.com, it makes a huge difference when you can see how the clothes move on the body and get a sense of the atmosphere in the showspace.
Here are some of my favourite collections from this year...

What I'm wearing
Outfit posts are one of my favourite things to read on other people's blogs but my lack of proper camera and a decent backdrop (I'm currently living in student halls) are an issue. This is my temporary solution, plus it's making me actually plan my outfits instead of throwing on the nearest thing in the morning!
Here's what I'm wearing for a day messing about in the studio -

Teenie zine
Last summer I put together my first zine - Kids at the Back - a little 16 page ditty featuring an interview with Lee from Trash Talk, some photos and a bunch of DIY fun. Since then I moved, started art school and a new job and haven't had the time to pull together something of the same (or greater) quality. Which led to this little Friday night project...
It's definitely something I intend to keep up and am hoping to produce every six weeks or so. If you're interested you can pick one up here - at the Kids at The Back store.
